PSI Seminars was created in 1973 around the dining room table of Thomas D. and Jane C. Willhite. Though founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the young company soon found its way to rural and scenic Lake County, California. Just outside the small community of Clearlake Oaks, Thomas and Jane acquired High Valley Ranch, a working 1700 acre cattle ranch to serve as the headquarters of PSI Seminars. Under the leadership of the Willhites, the company soon expanded its course offerings and locations.

Thomas Willhite died at the age of 43 while flying his stunt plane over High Valley Ranch in late 1983. His death occurred almost exactly a decade after the founding of PSI. Jane C. Willhite, succeeded him as President and Chairman of the board. Nearly two decades later, PSI Seminar's president continues to chart a course of expansion for this unique educational company. Her dream is that ultimately PSI Seminars will have an office in every major city throughout the United States and indeed, the world. "It is natural to be successful," write the Willhites. If you’ve been to other seminars you may have experienced this. At the basic, if you’re like me, you won’t be bored or annoyed with silliness. The Basic course is a serious transformational course designed for people to immediately create a new reality using 35 years of experience and technology. To do this PSI has skilled trainers who each bring their own unique style and originality. The trainers PSI uses have all been through the PSI courses, and can all share the tremendous gains made in their personal lives as a result of the PSI Seminars work.

So let's get it out there, PSI SEMINARS is a BUSINESS. It should come as no surprise since in this country, we have a capitalist economy. That’s our way of life, so understand that PSI is absolutely motivated by money and PSI certainly cares about its reputation as a business. However, with that said, since PSI cares so much about its business, then like all great lasting companies PSI must care about the quality of its product and more importantly its customers experience. If a company that has been in business for close to 35 years did not produce a consistently great experience, then that company would not exist in our economy.

This is my personal favorite question about PSI Seminars. A cult is defined as a group of any like minded people. Based on that definition sports teams, colleges, and even families could be considered cults. But the word Cult has a negative connotation usually describing something that is part of the occult. The word occult comes from the Latin word occultus (clandestine, hidden, secret), referring to "knowledge of the hidden,” and in modern terminology, it’s usually associated with very negative organizations that have caused harm or even death to members.....Please pause for a moment, and ask yourself, could a business with a product measured by the results it creates in customers lives last for 35 years, if it harmed its customer? I didn’t think so. PSI Seminars is not a “cult," within the common usage of the word in our culture.

Admittedly, PSI Seminars is somewhat secretive however. Again this is because PSI Seminars is IN BUSINESS. The courses PSI delivers are powerful, very powerful; in fact they could easily be the most powerful experiences of your life, they were for me. A large percentage of the 500,000 plus grads will tell you the PSI Seminars courses were the most meaningful experience of their lives to date. So if the courses are so POWERFUL, and GREAT, then why the Secrecy right? Well would you go see a great movie if the person who recommended it also told you the entire story, or worse the ending? Again I didn’t think so. PSI courses are similar. PSI strategically uses exercises that are only as effective as the individual experience, and to do this PSI has found that an individual must be totally present to optimize the experience. Preconceived notions or expectations implanted in the mind of a student actually inhibit the student from freely and openly receiving the experience. Unlike most businesses with a tangible product, PSI’s product is the actual experience of the student, and it’s the actual experience that PSI ask not to be shared.

Does life always seem to be out to get you? Are you unlucky in life? Do bad things just always happen to you? Are you constantly blaming other people for your problems? At the basic seminar you will see the different ways people live as victims, and the big costs they pay living life as a victim. You can, and will be able to take back control of your life.

At the Basic, students take time to fully examine the current state of their relationship to themselves, and to others. The tools taught can be applied to business or familial relationships. Are you currently estranged from family members? Have you been fighting with family for years? At the Basic many students have resolved internal conflict allowing them to forgive and move on with life.
