- It was June of 2005. School was almost out, and Garrett Miller and Kelly Mason were sitting in web design class playing Madness Interactive as usual. Realizing what a waste of time this was, the duo knived their last victims and came together to form ideas for a new website; something that people would actually be interested in. Of course, the first topic that came to mind was music, and then the ideas began flooding in. The site would feature things such as CD reviews, show reviews, interviews, photos, and show dates in or around the Seattle area. Now the skeleton of the site was there, but what about a name? Seattle is sometimes referred to as Rain City, which was easy to knock out, but something was missing. That same day in web design class, Kelly used her thesauraus skills to come up with a more creative term for music. After searching through countless amounts of synonyms, the word ambience came up. Although the meanings of ambience and music don't exactly coincide, Rain City Ambience has a nice ring to it.
