Publications
The Society’s newsletter was founded in March 1965 as a simple “letter” to the members with news of Society activities and the authorship debate. It has been published continuously since then. Society President Francis T. Carmody wrote and mailed the first issue (before his untimely death in 1965). Richard C. Horne, Jr. then carried on, both as Society President and as newsletter editor (1965-1975) –with much assistance from Honorary Society President Charlton Ogburn, Jr. during these years. In 1975 Gordon Cyr, at Mr. Horne’s request, took over as newsletter editor (1975-1978). He was then followed by Charlton Ogburn, Jr. (1978-1981), Warren Hope (1981-1985), Morse Johnson (1985-1995), and William Boyle (1996-2001). Katherine Chiljan(2001-2003), Robert Brazil (2002), Gary Goldstein (2004), Ramon L. Jimenez and Jim Brooks (2005). The newsletter was called the Newsletter - Shakespeare Oxford Society (ISSN 0276-2005) until 1995. In 1996, the Newsletter was renamed The Shakespeare Oxford Newsletter (ISSN 1525-6863).
