Television Tropes & Idioms
TVTropes.org is a wiki that presents a catalog of devices, conventions, expressions and metaphors (tropes) that make up common elements in fiction in general and screen writing in particular. The wiki uses common examples from television, movie and fiction to represent these "tricks and tips" that "a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members' minds and expectations. If a trope gets used too much, then it becomes clichéd."
While TVTropes.org started out as a catalog of various tropes in the television genre, they have since expanded to include a variety of fictive formats, with articles on:
