- BASICS Hampshire is a registered charity. Our members are 19 volunteer doctors and 1 consultant nurse. In our own time we provide advanced medical care to critically ill and injured people. We are called to the scene of road traffic accidents, industrial accidents, natural and manmade disasters, and to medical emergencies within people’s homes. We all carry a pager, which is activated by Ambulance Control in Winchester. We are called whenever the ambulance service is faced with a critical patient who needs advanced intensive care on scene. We then attend the incident using our own private vehicles with blue lights and sirens.
