Bester News was started by Brady Emerson in the summer of 2006 (originally Global News Now) to provide a one stop site for news and information. The site is developed with PHP5 and uses MySQL for the backend database. The frontend is displayed using a custom XHTML/CSS template and a little JavaScript/AJAX.
The mobile[1] version of the site was launched in spring of 2007 and is a great way for individuals to get up-to-date news, weather, traffic, and stock quotes using their mobile browser. The mobile site uses the same backend as the main site, however is restricted to sources designed for mobile devices.
