Description
The Buck Tobacco Sponsorship Project team would like to see rodeos continue to grow and flourish. Rodeos are important community events, they celebrate physical fitness, and they're fun for the whole family. We hope that due to rodeo's growing popularity, more healthy sponsors will be attracted to the sport.
Buck Tobacco's goal is to break the ties between tobacco companies and rodeos because it is not appropriate for tobacco products to be advertised and distributed at family-oriented sporting events. Spit tobacco causes cancer and heart disease and is very addictive, but tobacco ads and the distribution of free samples send a message to youth and adults that tobacco use is a good idea. Tobacco just doesn't belong in any sporting event where tough, fit athletes compete.
Pace Picante salsa, Wrangler jeans, and Justin Boots are just a few examples of the family-friendly sponsors that now support rodeo. NASCAR is thriving without the Winston Cup title sponsorship, which has been replaced by Nextel phones. Rodeos don't need tobacco money, either.
