- So…what’s this Blog all about anyway? Well, to make a long story short I have been visiting the islands for a long time with my family. Chincoteague Island in the summertime is an eclectic mix of summer vacationers, day-trippers, surfers, horse lovers, sun worshippers, fishermen, kayakers, saltwater cowboys, artists and of course, the locals who keep the whole thing running smoothly. In the off-season, the kids go back to school but Chincoteague stays BUSY! Every weekend there is something going on…decoy shows, oyster festivals, chili cook-offs, studio tours, birdwatching etc. There is no place I’d rather be on the whole planet!
