What (summary)

This task is part of Project: ConsensusPolling Affordances and expands on ConsensusPollingAffordances for Participants. Participants need to be able to easily manage their communication preferences.

Why this is important

ConsensusPolling is one of our core products (we're building HOW we work together). It also has a viral component that is important for growth. If participants in ConsensusPolls about the website find them easy to participate in, they will be more likely to invite their organizations here to make their key decisions using ConsensusPolling.

A successful poll involving 1,000 people would be news that the popular press might pick up which would attract more of the community builders we're looking for.

People need to feel they are a part of the process, no matter how often they choose to participate and no matter how much time they have to give.

DoneDone

  • easy to set preferences for communications (e.g. choose: I want an email every time the "document" changes, I want an email every day if the document has changed, I want an email once per week if the document has changed, I want an email when the done timer starts running or is reset, I want an email very time Suzy Trustworthy's status changes, etc
  • easy to see which participants have seen the document since its last change e.g. whenever the document changes, "status" color or the color of participants name changes to indicate that they have not seen the latest revision and that their status reflects to an earlier revision of the document - Maybe it makes more sense to simply timestamp each status, and let other participants decide what that means. This better in the case of typo-fixes, etc, and for people that don't intend to come back at all.
