- I should have known since I was a little kid, when I was fascinated by my Dad's 'Navy Signal Light'. I'd always been intrigued by flashlights and their simplicity, but my Dad's light was something else. I have no idea of the specs of this particular light...and it doesn't matter since I destroyed it in my teen years trying to 'mod' it. But the feeling never left me...a laser-beam of light, able to touch the clouds at my command...what a simple thrill! The fascination never left me either, as I can remember working in a retail store warehouse and drooling over Maglites when they first appeared in the early 80's.
