The Geekery was started back in the year 2000, just after the "dot com" boom had ended. We initially started with just a few pages, and only two authors. As time progressed, more pages were added, and more people began to actually start reading the site on a daily basis. With the increase in pages, as well as in increase for demand, more writers were added to The Geekery staff, which now includes the following members:
With the addition to more content and more traffic to the site, there was then a need to move the site from a free host to a real host that supported PHP, Perl, and MySQL databases. After a great deal of "bargain shopping", we found Cyber Wings, which seemed to be a great deal at the time. Prices were cheap, and users were happy, at least so we thought. After a few months of sluggish uptime, and slow page loads, Cyber Wings finally decided that it would be best to stop paying their bills to Rack Shack and see what would happen. Sure enough after not paying their bills, Rack Shack decided to pull the plug on all of their servers, and so The Geekery went down until the guys at the Rack Shack decided to turn the server back on for 24 hours and allow the users to obtain their data. Needless to say after this fiasco we decided it would be best to spend the extra money and get a good host with good uptime. We are currently hosted with Insider Hosting, and have been for the past several years. Uptime has been good, page loads time very fast, and customer support outstanding.
We here at The Geekery are dedicated to providing Geeks of all ages, sexes, ethnic backgrounds, and mental states a source for humor and entertainment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as well as 365 days a year, with the exception of leap years, in which case it would be 366 days.
