Tips: Have some link choices and/or contact info and/or a search bar on your 404 error page. This should help you to lose less people.
If you move content on your site, make sure to 301 redirect those pages. Make sure you don't have any broken links on your site. You only want to give people a 404 error page if they typed something like website.com/8adk5jad.
