About Us
Situated in Tasmania, the Island State of Australia, the World Institute for Nonviolence and Reconciliation is a centre of excellence, in the global interaction and exchange of contemporary dispute resolution, nonviolence and reconciliation knowledge and practices.
While many such institutes exist in the Northern Hemisphere, this will be the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The Institute is deliberately secular but openly welcomes all members of the interfaith community. It is structured as a charitable, non-profit, incorporated association.
The aim of the Institute is to contribute in an effective way to the reduction of violence in communities and to promote a coordinated and strategic protocol for peacebuilding by nonviolent action. This will be achieved by:
