- I want to thank you for your support in the 2003 Mayors race, and I hope you will continue to support my vision for the future of Austin and our country. My record reflects an understanding of the issues gained through twenty-five years of experience in Austin as a public servant and activist. I also have nine years of City Council experience including 15 months as mayor pro tem. During the past twenty-five years, I have worked on issues as diverse as the citizens of Austin - issues that are increasingly important to the future of our city.
