Description

Excerpted from the website:

The North American Congress on Latin America (NACLA) is an independent non-profit organization founded in 1966. NACLA provides policy makers, analysts, academics, organizers, journalists and religious and community groups with information on U.S.-Latin American relations and on a range of political, social and economic issues in the Americas. Over the last decade NACLA has focused on the rising resistance to neoliberal economic policy in Latin America and the diversity of social movements at the center of this struggle. With a critical eye on U.S. foreign policy, we continue to examine the interrelationships between multiple forms of social exclusion—class, race, gender, ethnicity, sexuality—that are at the heart of the ongoing militarism, human rights violations, environmental destruction and poverty that plague the region. In upcoming issues we intend to systematically explore economic and political alternatives being developed in the region.
