Description
The Philadelphia Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) established the Housing and Disability Technical Assistance Program, TAP, in December of 1999. TAP provides the most up-to-date information on accessible housing, fair housing laws and regulations, financial and technical resources, model projects and other issues related to housing for people with disabilities in the City of Philadelphia. This includes information on such topics as Universal Design, VisitAbility, proposed legislation, self-determination, and new public and private housing programs and projects. Diana T. Myers and Associates (DMA), a housing and community development consulting firm, is working with OHCD to provide this resource.
TAP is designed to provide assistance to disability advocacy groups, housing and community development corporations, housing counseling agencies, builders, developers, architects, financial institutions, public agencies and officials, and other housing or human service organizations concerned about housing rights and opportunities for people with disabilities in the City of Philadelphia.
TAP's goal is to educate, inform and provide technical assistance. Information is distributed through this website, presentations, training, forums, the publication of newsletters and other mailings. Organizations can meet with TAP personnel in order to discuss tailor-made presentations that meet their specific needs.
