Description
OutSmart In the Midlands, Inc. is an advocacy and education organization that serves youth and young adults (ages 16-22) who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or who question their sexual orientation. Because gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (GLBTQ) youth often struggle with issues surrounding their sexual identity, they are at increased risk for alcohol and other drug abuse, HIV and other STDs, and suicide.
The mission of OutSmart is to provide GLBTQ youth and their friends with opportunities to develop positive self-images through leadership and advocacy training, peer affiliation, education, and community service. OutSmart helps young people develop positive self-esteem and the skills necessary to become healthy, productive adults through the following programs, activities, and resources:
