Meet a fun-loving couple: Lorrin was born in Hawaii on July 22, a quiet, conservative Chinese-American. He grew up in a family with 4 sisters and spent the early years of his life living in one bedroom with his parents and 3 sisters. Six in a room. They were very close in those days, literally. Nina is from New Jersey, a Slovak-American. Lorrin met Nina sunning on Ala Moana Beach in Honolulu in the spring 1976. After 5 years of being with each other daily, they married in 1981. Lorrin attended the University of Hawaii for Civil Engineering and the University of Michigan for Architecture. In 1966, a semester before graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army in Chicago. Though he did not plan on going into the military, while the USA was engaged in the Vietnam War, he decided to make the best out of the situation. He signed up for Advanced Infantry Training and attended Officer Candidate Quartermaster School at Ft. Lee, VA. Upon graduation, he volunteered for Vietnam, but was assigned to serve as an U.S. Army Officer in Okinawa. In 1970, 3 years after serving his country in the military, he went back to the University of Michigan and graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture, and worked as a registered Architect. In 1976, he retired from architecture and founded The Lorrin Lee Program for Personal Development and Entrepreneurship. A self-taught Seminar Leader, he shared his knowledge on problem-solving, relationships, and metaphysics. His world famous graduates include 4-time Olympic Gold Medal Champion Pat McCormick, Best-Selling Author Robert Kiyosaki of Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and popular local Hawaiian musician Henry Kapono.
As a youngster, Lorrin delivered papers to earn money. While in school, he served as Junior Achievement banker (his first experience in business). His background as an Explorer Scout with the Boy Scouts of America helped him learn survival training in the wilderness. Lorrin has had many businesses including marketing — seminars, chocolates, health products, metaphysical books, boats, cars, travel tours, and pen pals. A passionate learner, he reads over 50 books and hundreds of magazines a year — mostly on health, fitness, vegan, business, finance, stocks, and world travel.
