Title

Rutland Area Physical Activity Coalition - RAPAC - Rutland, Vermont

Description

RAPAC is a coalition of organizations, businesses and individuals committed to promoting a healthy, physically active lifestyle in Rutland County. RAPAC is funded by the Bowse Health Trust, and was created in part to address the health problems (especially obesity, heart disease and diabetes) associated with a sedentary lifestyle in Rutland County. The members of RAPAC believe that physical activity is critical to the health, quality of life, and economic success of our community. Access to safe opportunities for such basic physical activities should be available to all residents, regardless of age, ability, gender, or socio-economic situation. Such access is a hallmark of successful, vibrant communities.

Our vision of the future is one in which people living in Rutland County will be happier, healthier, and more physically fit. Our citizens will regularly walk, bicycle, ski, snowshoe, or participate in organized sports in their community, whether for fun, fitness or transportation. Our streets, sidewalks, and trails will encourage physical activity through design, connectivity, and availability of destinations. Our businesses will benefit from lower health care costs.
