In 1970 the original production opened at the Alvin Theater on Broadway to great reviews, winning 6 Tony awards, as well as the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical. The new production is moving from The Cincinatti Playhouse in the Park to the Barrymore Theater with the full cast.
