- was founded in 1977 by internationally famous family therapist, Virginia Satir, as a forum for the continual evolution of Satir theory and practice, its practitioners, and the world community. In 2007, we changed our name to THE VIRGINIA SATIR GLOBAL NETWORK to reflect our global community. We have members in over 20 countries, with 21 Institutes on five continents. We operate from its headquarters in SeaTac, Washington. It is governed by an 8-member volunteer board, and is designated a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
