Safeco was launched in 1923 by an insurance executive named Hawthorne K. Dent. Company was organized to merge the responsibility and financial stability of an investor owned stock company with the risk underwritten and low prices. In 1953, the enterpriseís inventive soul sent it in quest of a welling technology that offered autonomous agents the tools to strive with the direct insurance writers ó computer-based automation. That rivalry produced the Selective Auto and Fire Insurance Company of America. The name Safeco was derived from the company's acronym.
Safeco entered the business of life insurance in year 1957. By the year 1968, the board of directors touted Safeco's rapid advancement and profit by changing the parent corporation's name from General America Corporation to Safeco Corporation. Safeco also diversified in its financial services by introducing mutual funds and a commercial credit company. In 1998 company further enhanced its national presence, when it purchased the naming rights to the Seattle Mariner's ballpark. Companyís revenue increased to $572 million in year 2004. Company is dedicated to provide the best insurance policies to small and mid sized businesses and to the home owners.
