- Irrlicht for Python
- I've started a new as-yet-unnamed side project* recently, to wrap the Irrlicht 3D engine for Python. There are a number of existing python-wrapped 3D engines, like PyOgre, which we used for PyWeek, and Soya, but I don't like these options for a number of reasons. PyOgre is out-of-date and struggling to be maintained, and Ogre itself is a much heavier-weight framework. Soya is GPL, written mostly in Pyrex, poorly documented, less feature-rich, and going through lots of project-fork-drama lately. There's also a Python game engine called Venom that wraps Irrlicht, but it doesn't seem well-maintained, or like a direct wrapping. So I decided to do it myself.
