- About Santa Barbara Channel Seafari
- The Santa Barbara Channel is quite possible the most bio-diverse body of ocean water on the planet. The convergence of a nutrient rich cold water current from the north Pacific and a warm water current from the southern equatorial region create a gyre in the channel because of its east-west orientation. The mixing of the California current and the Davidson counter current in the Santa Barbara Channel produces an incredible array of marine life. Of the world’s nearly 80 known species of cetaceans (whales, dolphin and porpoise) over a third have been seen and documented here.
