- Who I Am
- My name is Michael Grimm, and I am not that big of a deal. I’m not coming at you as an expert on security like Bruce Schneier, or a guy who hangs out with the big kahunas like Robert Scoble, or an authority figure with a whole bunch of acronyms after my name like that guy who invented the Internet (Al Gore, duh). I don’t have all that. I do have some writing skills, a critical mind, research techniques, a solid bookmark list, a love of commas, and yes, a nice & high IQ. I love reading the newspaper (especially the WSJ) and I like to flatter myself and by saying I know a thing or two. When I meet someone new they often ask me what I do, so I tell them I work for a software company that they haven’t ever heard of. Yet. If all goes well and I do my job right. Anyways, I do marketing work for Essential Security Software. A lot of people on the Internet are highly cynical and think marketing is a kind of a bad thing and dog on it a lot. I would like to respectfully disagree with those people and dog on them. Pretty much everything you see, hear, and use in life is marketing. Chances are you like some of it (Have a favorite car? A favorite website or blog? Then yes, you’ve been successfully marketed too), and it helps you make decisions. Every concept, idea, or thought you have about anything is a marketing message that someone came up with. You just have to decide either to love it or hate it. My job is simply to come up with a way to explain what I’m selling in a way that makes sense and hopefully improves your life a little bit.
