Dr. Harmon C. Stein received his medical degree in 1979 from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, and completed his ophthalmology residency at Brookdale University Hospital & Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, in 1983 where he served as Chief Resident. He became Board Certified in Ophthalmology in 1985.
Dr. Stein has been in private practice in the Delaware Valley since 1984 and is currently CEO of Total Eye Care Centers. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and an active member of the International Society of Refractive Surgery. Dr. Stein has performed well over 10,000 various microsurgical procedures in his career.
Dr. Stein is the Director of Laser Vision Correction at Total Eye Care Centers, a private group ophthalmology practice originally founded in 1968. He has been performing various refractive modalities for the correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism over the last decade. These include Radial Keratotomy (RK), Astigmatic Keratotomy (AK), Photorefractive Keratoplasty (PRK), and Laser In-Situ Keratomielusis (LASIK). Dr. Stein is certified to perform laser vision correction procedures on the VISX® Star S2™, Summit Apex Plus®, and Summit Autonomous LADARVision® laser systems. He is one of the first LASIK surgeons in this other area to be certified in the use of "flying spot" laser technology. A Wills Eye affiliated surgeon, Dr. Stein has been performing laser surgery since FDA approval in 1993.
