Most Community Reviews relate to whether or not an individual likes or dislikes a product or service. That's not so in our case. CertGuard reviews IT Certification websites with a single goal in mind, to tell you whether or not the product or service they are providing is legal or illegal. As a community member here we want to provide perusers of AboutUs.org, whom are researching IT Certification Websites, with information on the quality of those certification websites.
We are working on a collaboration of 'Ratings' (or classifications) that will help the Certification Industry more easily understand the nature of related Certification Websites.
As we encounter pages that relate to IT Certification we will try to determine for you whether or not they provide stolen, copyrighted, materials from Certification Vendors/Agencies, and we will note this in the Community Review Section of each page.
Although we have many other classifications, the five primary classifications you will encounter when it comes to Certification Websites are "Braindumps", "Link Dumps", "Gunmen", "Unethical", and "Clean".
- If we note that a website is considered a braindump website, that means that we feel they are providing their customers with material that was pirated from copyrighted sources. Often this material will be from a large Certification Vendor (Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, etc.), but we have also found cases where the stolen material is intellectual property of Practice Test Providers that are not connected to the actual exam system.
- Link Dumps are sites which are generally in the process of becoming a braindump website. Often, Link Dumps (aka Parking Lots) are generally used as an SEO ploy by braindump companies. Once the SEO ranking reaches a certain point, the braindump companies convert them to full fledged braindump sites. We like to let you know about this type of site because they generally point viewers to other sites that provide braindumps.
- The term Gunmen in this context refers to what are known as Proxy Test Takers. These gunmen charge outrageous fees to take exams for people that generally don't have the smarts to pass the exams on their own. We have found that more often than not, these gunmen are only in business to steal your money. They're not looking to get you certified, they are looking to get rich off of your money. - UNETHICAL SITES: If we've classified a site as being unethical, it's for a good reason. The number one reason is that others in the industry have reported them to organizations for their bad business ethics. Often, these companies will befriend you, take you in like you're their best customer, and provide you with shody materials. Then, once you've failed the exam, or request a refund, they treat you like you're non-existent.
- Sites that we have determined as "Clean" have been proven in the industry to be providing Practice Test Software and/or Practice Test Questions that were written by professionals directly affiliated/associated with that company. These are the websites that you want to choose to study from.
