We're a community within the greater community of the Annex. Many of us live, work and study here, while others of us just plain like the neighbourhood. Walmer has a rich history in the Annex that spans more than 100 years. We appreciate our history but also strive to meet the challenges of day-to-day living. We are a group of some 200 people who meet to worship God and to struggle with the spiritual issues in our lives. While our numbers and faces and many other things have changed during our history, our basic purpose has not.
... to be a diverse worshipping community where rich and poor alike seek healing and wholeness together in Christ; and to be empowered by the Holy Spirit for the establishment of God's kingdom in every aspect of human affairs by enabling and equipping each of God's people gathered at Walmer to be an agent of His peace, justice and reconciling love, in downtown Toronto and throughout the world.
Admittedly, it's a pretty lofty vision. And sharing this with you makes us vulnerable. You can ask us whether we have attained these goals or not. Some of our attempts include our food bank, and our home-based sharing and support groups. If you're someone who has questions; or are simply looking for a place to live out your faith with others, we look forward to meeting you!
