PPP Enterprises was created in 1984 by Mike and Judi Cohen, two frustrated parents attempting to toilet train a very bright, but stubborn two-and-a-half year old. An ex-elementary school teacher, Judi knew that using "positives" would be the best approach. With board, paint, stickers and glue in hand, a funny prototype was made. Little Arika got toilet trained that very day and the Potti Pets concept was born.
Of course, Potti Pets has gone through some changes over the years, including Dr. Warren Umansky's expert advise on cassette, as well as a focus on good bathroom hygiene. But the philosophy of being "positive" remains the same.
Potti Pets was so successful that PPP Enterprises was encouraged to develop a behavior changing system for kids past potty training age. Enter the Behavior Beasts, whose names and characteristics resulted from focus groups, discussions with parents, teachers and little kids, themselves. Again, Dr. Umansky lent his expertise to the program, making it a great combination of hands-on tools and valuable professional advice for all parents and teachers of young children.
