Yoga Designs was brought into being by our impassioned desire to share the art of yoga, honoring the artist within and without. Truthfully, it all came about when friend and fellow teacher Shoosh, came to us with her designs, (most of which had been out of circulation for some time), and proposed we sell t-shirts as a side income for our young family. She knew people loved the simplicity of her designs, as they had been around for years. She was one of the first designers of yoga clothing. We said we'd think about it, and the fountain of creative ideas for this company hasn't stopped pouring in since. We happily took on Shoosh's designs, developed a few of our own, found hugely talented artist Tom Giffin nearby and we keep rolling along gathering joyous momentum as amazing synchronistic events and people come into our lives. It is our dream to support a great many other yoga inspired artists as they present themselves. It is our hope that together, we can support conscious healthy lifestyles, contribute to values-based purchasing and celebrate with fullness of heart, the self-expression of yoga.
We believe, every individual, young or old can make a significant contribution towards creating a more just and harmonious world. Artistic creative expression is simply one of the most effective, universal communication tools available to raise awareness and inspire healthy change. We get much pleasure in presenting others (especially the younger generations) with healthy conscious-minded clothing and arts. We want to spread the spirit of yoga to more people and families in as many ways as we can. Yoga Designs is just one way to do this. Please enjoy our products.
Jim and Kathryn have lived yoga lifestyles-simple, honest, authentic and healthy, for over ten years. They currently live on beautiful Whidbey Island (home to many talented artists) located on the Puget Sound in the wild Pacific Northwest. They both teach yoga professionally, run Yoga Designs and raise two beautiful children, Clay 1 year, and Patrick 4 years. (Kathryn is also blessed with artist son Anthony, age 20, who is currently working on some great designs for the up and coming children’s line)! They care deeply for the environment, social justice issues, peace, spiritually, healthful family/community oriented lifestyle and most importantly, authentic self-expression.
