RecentChangesCamp is a yearly un-conference (in the BarCamp vein), with attendees looking to share and learn in an open environment. Centered on the OpenTechnology/OpenCulture movement which includes online communities and collaborative websites (Wikis), RecentChangesCamp 2008 is taking place in San Francisco CA in February 2008.

Un-Format

The format is based on the Open Space model, which allows groups of all sizes to self-organize, create agendas and solve complex problems. This structure operates on four basic principles:

  • Whoever comes is the right people.
  • Whatever happens is the only thing that could have.
  • Whenever it starts is the right time.
  • Whenever its over, its over.

The Open Space model eschews structure save for a loose one. Everyone will be in attendance for the opening session of RecentChangesCamp, at which time the principles of Open Space will be explained, people will announce sessions they'd like to create or attend and when they are convening and the work begins. Each day will have have time for opening and closing gatherings to regroup, plan and share insights. (read more about Open Space)

Attendees of RecentChangesCamp include notable wiki enthusiasts as well as other OpenTechnology and OpenCulture people.
