A microkeratome is a surgical instrument used in LASIK eye surgery to cut a very precise corneal flap allowing for the reshaping of the cornea in preparation for refractive surgery. Microkeratomes are also used to remove diseased tissue and to reshape the cornea prior to a corneal transplant.
