SC3000.COM opened on July 17, 1997 in anticipation of the next great Sim title from Maxis: SimCity 3000. SC3000.COM also serves as the domain for the SimCity 2000 Resource Page, which was established in the summer of 1995. SC3000.COM brings you top quality files, information, and the best discussion forum all in one place. It was revamped on January 1, 1999, and enhanced in February of 2001, to continue its goal of providing top-notch SimCity coverage.

that SC3000.COM's original domain name was to be "sc3k.com"? This domain name was registered by Maxis at the last second, and so "sc3000.com" was settled on.
