Aliza Earnshaw I'm the editor-in-chief at AboutUs. I work with the content on our website, and the people who create it.

You know who you are. You can't walk down the high street without looking at the clothes and shoes, or checking out your own image floating in front of uninteresting goods like hardware or mortgage rates.

This list is for us, the fashion-addicted. No matter that our everyday wear -- jeans, t-shirts, sneakers -- could lead the ignorant to believe we're above vanity and trends. We're not. We watch every turn and twist in the style landscape. We know the designers, and when we can find a good deal on one of our favorite designer pieces, we buy it. We know workmanship and fabric quality and admire a well-turned buttonhole. We are remorseless thieves of other people's great outfit ideas, and relentless reshufflers of our own wardrobes.

Enjoy the great fashion sites on this list, get inspiration from them, and add your own favorites.

The Fashion Victim List

  1. {{{2}}} (visit) - Ph.D. candidates do fashion. A thought-provoking blend of cheap chic, thrift-shop finds and academic discourse on the cultural connotations of fashion, appropriation of artifacts, the tension between femininity and feminism, and more.
  2. {{{2}}} (visit) - You can't love fashion without -- just occasionally!-- thinking about how much you are spending. Julie Fredrickson has taken her guilt to a higher level, cataloging every item she owns, including its original price, and calculating her cost per wear. Savvy or crazy? Perhaps a bit of both.
  3. {{{2}}} (visit) - Tavi Gevinson started her fashion blog as a fifth grader. Now she's 14, and still developing her already prodigious writing talent. It's a treat to delve into Tavi's discriminating intelligence and thoughtful ramblings. You say, why waste all this intellectual energy on fashion? It's far from wasted, my friend. If the child can do all this while she's still a child, think what greater heights her talent could reach as she learns and grows.
  4. {{{2}}} (visit) - Scott Schuman has spent a life in fashion and retail. The man loves to capture street style, and does it extremely well. He's also one of the few fashion bloggers to have turned his passion into a living. He's selling books on Amazon, writing columns for print magazines, and even getting written up, himself. But success hasn't spoiled The Sartorialist -- it's still an entertaining, informative and inspiring blog for the fashion-addicted.
  5. {{{2}}} (visit) - Great photography and an eye for superb style. Designer and photographer Paul Melo sure knows how to put a website together. Beautiful street photos of people who boast super individual style, and a well-curated list of other good fashion blogs.
  6. {{{2}}} (visit) - "Charming" is the first word that springs to mind for this lovely individual fashion blog. Ulrikah is young, Finnish, stylish and -- not svelte. While many of us may think of extra avoirdupois as antithetical to true chic, Ulrikah proves us wrong. Her delightful photos show off her style, spirit and pale beauty. The girl knows how to dress!
  7. {{{2}}} (visit) - So what makes this style-in-the-street blog any different from every other SITS blog? It's created by an Israeli. Fabulous images, and if you don't happen to read Hebrew -- especially without vowels -- there's always Google Translate.
  8. {{{2}}} (visit) - Call me a sucker for good photography -- you're right, and that's why this informative, practical and comprehensive style blog falls lower on the list. While the photos aren't as luscious as those you'll find on fashion sites, Angie is full of great advice and tips. Bonus points: She volunteers with {{{2}}} (visit), a nonprofit that helps low-income women get ready for the workplace. You've got to love a style queen with a big heart.
  9. {{{2}}} (visit) - You love to ride your bike. You hate all that trad Spandex bike apparel. VeloCouture will provide some much-needed validation for the proposition that all bikers need not look uncool. With one quibble: Where are the helmets? Folks, there's nothing less cool-looking than an injured brain. Strap one on, and smile!
  10. {{{2}}} (visit) - No fashion website list can be complete without Polyvore. I'm not a fan, but clearly I'm in the minority -- Polyvore is one of the top 2,000 websites worldwide. Members compose "sets," or collages, of photos to create an outfit, often with interesting bits of art or text for background.
