Hi There!

I am a business owner and I have just discovered your site which is wonderful. I was wondering if you can head me in the right direction. I am wanting to build an online shopping cart. I have downloaded a couple to find they are either too basic or very complicated as I have no web skills. Could you maybe recommend one if you know of any that you think would suit a person with limited skills in Web. I like the idea of buying software to select a template and edit myself although the template purchase is also suited to my needs as I want to have a shopping cart asap. I am a big supporter of open source software rather than big commercial company brands.

I would really appreciate your help.

NewSkin Beta Preview

Hello Brandon!

We've noticed your contributions and are glad to be on the AboutUs team with you! As an ActiveMember your energy and ideas determine our future direction. One way that ActiveMembers stay "in the loop" is to participate in the beta previews of large new changes to the site before they are generally released.

Today we're starting a limited beta preview of an earthy NewSkin intended to reflect the alive and growing AboutUs community. The NewSkin is designed to feel wholesome and connected with the real world. This choice was made to reassure the many folks who feel that the internet is a "scary place" where mean people hide behind fake identities and shout insults at each other. We hope that the NewSkin evokes our values in a way that helps visitors and members alike feel grounded in true community.

We'd love your help putting the NewSkin through its paces! To give it a whirl you'll need to be logged in. Once you are logged in, go to "my preferences" | "skin" and select "design". Don't forget to then click the "save" button! You can always go back to the current skin by selecting "aboutus" via the same steps.

Your feedback on the new look for aboutus will help ensure that it has a maximally positive impact when we roll it out. Thanks for being a valuable member of the community, we look forward to your feedback on the NewSkin page!

Warm Regards,
the DevelopmentTeam

ICANN consensus poll

I haven't put in any content yet, but here's a barebones framework of a consensus poll. I could use your help framing and such: http://www.icannwiki.org/NARALO_Unified_Formation_Documents Thanks! TedErnst

Excellent idea. How about sort of a "share this" button (like on my blog) which will take you to all the relevant places (digg, delicious, etc)? Nathan (talk) / 18:32, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

IRC Recorder

I can very easily do this with ABotUs. I figured it would be a questionable idea ethically unless it was suggested. I can do channel stats too (like who talked the most) but that might be a little competitive  ;-) See here for example of a cumulative 3-year channel stats page.

PennyBank.Biz now with two founding members.

Brandon ... it is great, that you said Yes to this challenge. According to your love for transparency, I share with you, I reformulated the intro and look forward to a great future.

Your investment of 0.80 US$, should be listed in an Transaction Wiki, specialized to financial transactions of the PennyBank.Biz.

Some thoughts on a Transaction Wiki

  • Each transaction has ample space for commenting it
  • For practical reasons, I suggest the transactions should be read-only for third parties, but with links to comment areas.
  • There is a RecentChanges
  • Transactions can be initiated only by people who input their "pennies".
  • There should be two kinds of transactions
    • Internal transactions, where only virtual money ("Buchgeld") is involved
    • External transactions, where a bigger amount is transferred via e.g. Paypals

( A real bank, that has an transparency option, giving access to the individual account would be great)

As money can be seen as a tool to "trace, who owns whom a favor" and besides that, there is an analogy of "Voting with your dollars" (pennies), what about adapting current wiki-software to a transactional wiki?

Even, if we don't have a transactional wiki yet, what do you think about using special pages of AboutUs or another wiki, you know, as templates for transactions?

Hi Brandon, I was wondering if you have any updates on the status of AboutUsLogo participant Sander Snel? On the project page, it says that you invited him for a phone chat via email on July 9. Have a nice day :-) Best, Obed Suhail

OurWork

Hi Brandon,

We've updated OurWork to reflect the changes on the planning game. Can you update the projects you're working on over the next two weeks? The full list of prioritized projects is up on OurWork. - Scott Keeler Comment_green.gif

AboutUsLogo

Hi Brandon, The AboutUsLogo ConsensusPoll has surpassed all it's GoThresholds and we will be turning on the DoneTimer as soon as all participants have been notified. This means that all participants now have the opportunity to check AboutUsLogo one more time, to make sure we haven't overlooked something. Please feel free to change the document and/or change your status, if need be. Best, Obed Suhail

Continuous Integration Model

Hey Brandon, what do you think of using the Continuous Integration Model when we move from beta to production? John Stanton 20:24, 2 August 2007 (PDT)

Projects:WhoWeAre

Hi Brandon, This is the message I'm sending to all people listed on Projects:WhoWeAre (TedErnst, Brandon CS Sanders, Obed Suhail, Asad Butt, MartinPfahler, Wally Wilson User:fridemar).

WhoWeAre stage 1 consensus poll went live just a few minutes ago.
If you have little time (one minute?), I invite you to take a look at your status page in the WhoWeAre stage 1 consensus poll and set an appropriate status message.
If you have more time, I invite you to look more closely at WhoWeAre and then at Projects:WhoWeAre to see what needs to be done, or add to the list of what needs to be done.
Thanks much! TedErnst

Projects:ConsensusPollingAwareness

Hey Brandon, welcome home! I know you're probably swamped, just getting back and all. Let me know when this week is a good time for our first post-Lahore check-in. :-) Julia and Obed and I had a great meeting tonight about Consensus Polling Awareness. We're moving ahead on two fronts. First, each of us is taking 1/3 of the staff and we're doing 15 minutes with each one, going through the tour and/or talking about consensus polling. We'll report back on the project page and then with a meeting in a week or so. Second, we'd like to have dev write us a consensus polling app. We've brainstormed an initial list of desires for this app. What's the procedure for next steps? We need to write user stories, yes? Do we do that with you or someone else from the dev team? Can someone guide us? We know things will have to get prioritized later, but what do we do first? Thanks much and hope to talk with you soon (whenever you're ready - no emergency). peace, Ted Ernst | talk

AboutUsPeopleCleanup

Hi Brandon, as an effort to minimize the distinction between AboutUsStaff and ActiveMembers, we are replacing the AboutUsStaff/AboutUsEmployees/AboutUsStaffCity categories with AboutUsCity Category. You are welcome to share your ideas/thoughts on AboutUsPeopleCleanup#Discussion page. Best, Obed Suhail

I added ConsensusPollingAffordances for Participants2 to the dev list, understanding that it will probably not actually make the prioritized cut this time (and can't be worked on until the first one is done anyway. Ted Ernst | talk 07:50, 31 August 2007 (PDT)

WhoWeAre Consensus Poll

Hi Brandon, did you see the recent changes made to WhoWeAre document? Could you please have a look at Stage 1 for WhoWeAre and see if it works for you and set your status accordingly? Feel free to change the document if you think it can be improved. Let me know if you have any questions. Best, Asad

problems

Hi Brandon,

I see a couple of problems with this move:

  1. [1] - need to check and fix backlinks on moves
  2. not even sure that Values is the appropriate page name, as Values could mean anything and is not specific to this wiki, maybe OurValues? ~~ MarkDilley

Hi Brandon,

I just looked at my HomeHelp4U.net page and noticed something I really do not like. Google Ads list my direct competitors on my page. How can I remove the Google Ads from my page.

Kind Rgards, Sander Snel

Thanks

Eventually yours (and John's) thoughts on PrettyURLSandbox helped, thanks for that! I had to move my wiki to a subdomain, then was able to remove the /index.php/ completely. I've tagged the page for deletion as it's served its purpose. Thanks again! Nathan (talk) 18:43, 29 September 2007 (PDT)

New to this site and need a friend

Hi Brandon:

I'm new and would like to get connected. The pages said I could announce my arrival to developers of this site and they would help. Initially, I would like to connect to a community. I would also like to know how to update my talk page so that I can upload photos, post articles, and contribute to this site. Thanks for all help.

Brandon, we could not find the InfluenceUs wizard, please send us its location. Thanks Arif Iqbal

"Almost-top-level" domains

I see that that AboutUsBot can now automatically add domains in the format *.ny.us (nd likewise for the other state abbreviations), although domains such as Mesd.k12.or.us cannot be added automatically. Could you please add edu.pk , gc.ca, mb.ca, nu.ca and nf.ca to the list of "almost-top-level" domains, so that domains such as mul.edu.pk can be added automatically? Some additional domains are listed at SuggestionBox. --Eohippus 05:16, 1 October 2007 (PDT)

two items, one personal/business and the other business

Hi Brandon,

  • Wanted to make sure you knew I'd be working at OMCC from the afternoon of the 15th of Oct until the end of that week, then flying to Montreal with Ward on Saturday.
  • Had a thought about AcceptanceTests for dev tasks like UberPatrolFixes. I found a problem in the first 2 minutes of using the new tool. Could a last and final step for DoneDone be an actual user test, at least for tasks where that makes sense? TedErnst | talk 18:39, 2 October 2007 (PDT)

dev priorities

Brandon -- I've got a working AboutUs Widget and have added it to next iteration's priorities. Unfortunately it is transcluding too much and I can't fix it. Will you take a look? Thanks. -- Ward 14:56, 7 October 2007 (PDT)

I fixed it, Ward. It was just missing a </noinclude> tag at the bottom. TedErnst | talk 15:40, 7 October 2007 (PDT)

UWEB

Ward hosted an open space session on this today. Was just wondering if you had any news on the cp affordances. No one mentioned difficulties participating, but I'm hoping to get a lot more action on this soon and of course want it to be as easy for folks as is practical. Hope all is well. peace, TedErnst | talk 15:15, 22 October 2007 (PDT)
