User talk:Clesilva

Back to the SpeakingBuddy.org wiki page Hi, Clesilva welcome to AboutUs. I see that you've done a great job on SpeakingBuddy.org. This is an awesome page. I notice that you've nominated this page to be featured going almost all the subsequent steps too. Great! The only thing that remains now, before it's officially nominated is to transclude this page on FeatureMePotentials. See FeatureMeProcess if you need any help with this. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with. Best, Asad | *~talk~* 04:14, 11 January 2008 (PST)

Hi!

Hi Cle! I am super glad that you reached out on the CommunityNews WikiBox :-) Looking at the WikiPage you are working on, I would reccomend two things off the top of my head. One - add the DomainPage side box back, it has two links directly to your site. Two- make many of your external links into WikiLinks or at least LinkPair them. Look forward to working with you. Best, MarkDilley

Hey Mark, thanks a lot for your comments! Well, the DomainPage sidebox... I know that it's useful (not to mention that the the AboutUs pages should follow a "standard looking" with the sidebox on the top left), but I really couldn't find a way to put that box in there, in a way that wouldn't mess with the whole design... and also there is the thumbnail resolution problem, as I commented on the SpeakingBuddy.org/FeatureDiscussion talk.
The LinkPair is just fantastic, thanks a lot for the tip, I really didn't know this one. I tried a different solution which took me ages to implement (see the "Website related links" section) because I didn't know about it was that simple. See you! Cle Silva 12:42, 15 January 2008 (PST)

Wow

I just spotted some pages that you flagged - great work, and thank for helping out! Best, Kristina ..talk.. ..chat.. 17:27, 14 January 2008 (PST)

I second that. --Sa'ad : talk : email: contribs : 03:56, 15 January 2008 (PST)

Thanks a lot, Kristina and Saad! Well, that's the least I can do, especially because I know there is also a lot of children and teens browsing the AboutUs pages, and if you use the Random Page links, it doesn't take too long until you bump into a dodgy page with nasty names and thumbs... Since the people responsible for putting this kind of content on AboutUs are not interested to flag those pages, we have to do it by ourselves ;) Cle Silva 12:56, 15 January 2008 (PST)

Domain box

Hello Cle, I added the DomainBox back in, it seems to work, but if you still don't want it there, no problem, please revert :-) Best, MarkDilley | talk Comment_green.gif

Thanks Mark ;) Now giving it a second look, it doesn't seem so bad... I'm gonna leave it there by now, maybe moving the TOC above it.
Ok, but really, no worries if you don't want it their. :-) ~~ MarkDilley
Alright ;) Cle Silva 10:25, 16 January 2008 (PST)

Edit buttons overlap.

Hello Cle,

Noticed on your domain page SpeakingBuddy.org the edit buttons were overlapping. I tried a few tests one one of them fixed it. It meant having to remove the individual edit buttons in exchange for keeping the right aligned TOC and i figured you want to keep the later.

Let me know if it works for you. You can always revert my edits and go back to a previous version.

Best, --Sa'ad : talk : email : contribs : 21:18, 15 January 2008 (PST)

Thanks, Saad. Well, I think its better this way, I can't say I'll miss those green edit buttons... I noticed that it's the "NOEDITSECTION" thing that does the trick, isn't it? Very good! Cle Silva 10:25, 16 January 2008 (PST)
Yep that does the trick. :) --Sa'ad : talk : email : contribs : 20:58, 16 January 2008 (PST)

Active Community Member

Hi Cle, you've been doing some great work in making AboutUs a better and safer resource. I just added you to the ActiveCommunityMember group which means that all of your edits from now on will be auto-patrolled. Yay! Congratulations. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Asad Butt (talkcontribs) .

Thank you! :) Cle Silva 02:54, 18 January 2008 (PST)

Re: KaEr-Media.org

That is interesting. I don't know much about this, but I went ahead and removed that link. Kristina ..talk.. ..chat.. 15:52, 25 January 2008 (PST)

Thanks Kristina. I noticed that Igorberger just flagged KaEr-Media.org as malware, which is very well done. Now I know what to do, next time I see something similar. Cle Silva 16:13, 25 January 2008 (PST)

Color Help

Nice work adding the color help to the formatting page! - Ray | talk

Thanks Ray! I'm a wiki "newbie" and I struggled for ages to find a wiki syntax for the font color... Once I found that template, I thought it would be useful to have an example in the editing help, to the other clueless people like me ;) Cle Silva 01:16, 28 January 2008 (PST)

PossibleAdultContent Bot

I thought you might be interested to know that User:Vartan created a bot to tackle some flagging of PossibleAdultContent! You can see its contributions here and if you'd like to chat we are both there now (AboutUs LiveChat). If you have any feedback or notice any false positives that would be good to know. Best, Kristina .talk. .chat. 15:47, 30 January 2008 (PST)

Wow! Congrats, Vartan! I just started the bot and am watching it working! Is it going to be put permanently to work on the AboutUs servers? I hope it doesn't overload the servers while running, anyway this is just great stuff and will make things a lot easier! It would be great if this bot could work with the current AboutUsBot, checking and flagging while building... There are still tons of adult pages to be flagged (and dozens coming out every minute) and it would take and army of "human users" to flag them all. Well, needless to say, I just loved it :D Cle Silva 01:49, 31 January 2008 (PST)

About Airborne-Sys.com

Hey Cle, I moved your influence us comment on Airborne-Sys.com which was about the feature process. I moved it under the relevant discussion so it shows up properly for that process. Best, --Sa'ad : msg me : email : 07:49, 8 February 2008 (PST)

No problem, thank you! Cle Silva 03:45, 10 February 2008 (PST)

FeatureMePotentials

At your instigation, we've created an awful mess over there! :-) No, seriously, it's very, very good, I think. Check out the new way things are organized? It's a work in progress, of course, but would love your comments on the outstanding discussion items, especially around FeatureMeNotReady. I took out a lot of previous comments from both you and me, either because I thought they were now represented elsewhere or becasue a whole bunch could be summarized. Please make sure what's there now accurately represents both what you were trying to say (if we haven't satisfied those points yet) and what your current thinking is now, if you have the time an inclination, okay? You've been great in all this. Yay! TedErnst (talk) 03:24, 14 February 2008 (PST)

Wow, I just checked that out and I have to say, that's just amazing! Now the page looks clean, very well organized and pleasant to read! I'm going to add some comments on the discussion page ;) Cle Silva 13:41, 14 February 2008 (PST)

About NoEditSection

Hi Cle, Even though there is a big Edit button on the top of every page, people still miss it. A person not so familiar with editing a wiki may not recognize that the page is editable. Also sometimes we only edit the section of a page instead of the whole page to avoid seeing/loading all the code. The NoEditSection tag is only used when it clashes with existing code or gives overlay issues (which was happening on your page for speakingbuddy). Id ask you to remove it from HomeNurse.net because we want to encourage editing. I'm sure you would agree. :) --Sa'ad : msg me : email : 00:15, 28 February 2008 (PST)

No problem at all, Saad. I will put the "green beans" back ;) Cle Silva 01:04, 28 February 2008 (PST)

GaysEs.info

I'm curious about your flagging of this site. It was flagged before and the main editor removed the flag. I haven't looked at it myself so am just wondering what you saw. Thanks! TedErnst (talk)

Hello, Ted. I am shockingly surprised that the flag was removed. That's why I am not feeling so motivated to keep flagging adult websites anymore. The "adult flag" mechanism has proven itself totally useless, since anyone can remove it, and easier than it is to flag it. But this is another story, anyway... I flagged that site because it is (clearly enough, at least for me) an adult website. It is a dating site, but for gay men only. Nothing against the nature of the content itself, of course, but dating sites themselves are for adults (well, at least I've never seen any dating sites for children... yet). I am not going to go on and on about it, if this IS or IS NOT an adult website. According to my judgement, it's for adults only, so it should be flagged as such. Cle Silva 13:40, 7 March 2008 (PST)

Is Match.com flagged? What about all the other straight dating sites? I'm not sure which part of our AdultContentPolicy would apply to these sites. Help me read it so I can see? TedErnst (talk) 15:11, 7 March 2008 (PST)

I don't really understand what's your point, Ted. I don't think you need any help on that. And that site is now unflagged. Period. I don't understand why extend a discussion about something that is already resolved. Just to finish once for all, I've been noticing that my contributions are hurting some people's feelings. Perhaps I should quit it, don't you think? That's it. Cle Silva 17:19, 7 March 2008 (PST)

This seems to have hit a nerve, and I'm not sure why. Care to talk about this by phone? My take on wiki is that we all have something to contribute. You and I might disagree on a particular action, yet we can learn from each other. That's what I was asking for, for you to help me see this from your point of view. Are you game?
